Having troubles joining the server?

If you have more than one install, you may have problems joining the server. When you click the link "Join Server" on the right hand menu of Speedracin.net, Windows will automatically fire up the default installation of rFactor. Speedracin.net's server uses the latest installation of rFactor(v1255), and you will need this version in order to compete in the league.

The solution to this problem lies within Windows' registry.

BE CAREFUL! CHANGES MADE TO THE REGISTRY CAN HAVE SERIOUS EFFECTS! IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING, DON'T POKE AROUND AND CHANGE VALUES! SPEEDRACIN.NET WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING YOU DO TO YOUR COMPUTER!

Step One:

First, you need to know where the 1255 version of rFactor is located on your computer, the version you want to use in order to participate in the league races.

Example: "C:\Program Files\rFactor\rFactor.exe"

Open up Notepad, or whatever you use to copy down text.

Write down the location.

Step Two:

Navigate to your Registry Editor in Windows.

In Windows XP and previous versions, go to: Start/Run/

In Windows Vista, go to Start, Start Search, type in Run, and click enter.

Type in regedit, press ok.

Navigate regedit as you would Windows Explorer to "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\rFactor\shell\open\command\"

In here should be the default installation path to rFactor:

Step Three:

Click Modify and copy this value into another notepad. (I suggest saving this information in case you want to revert back to the rFactor installation that is working for you now.)

Edit the value data so that it reads to the same installation path that you copied into notepad earlier(v1255):

Note: Make sure you do not overwrite the "+connect %1"

Step Four:

Click ok and exit the Windows Registry editor.
